Anyone who lives outside of Alaska, or somewhere else "grizz" or polar
bears frequent
is trying to compensate for a small dick.
Quite a few deer hunters use large pistols, although .44 magnum works
about as well as .454, in the hands of a skilled shooter.
Deer hunter...there's something inherently amusing about that phrase...a
false implication of mystery, danger, intrigue, skill...
Sorry...I see too many deer crossing the woods on my property to think it
requires any particular high-level skill to shoot and kill one with a
gun. I could use my upper level French door opening as a "stand," and
shoot one deer after another from 100 yards away.
You've apparently never met a good hunter who was also concerned with
choosing the right ones to take from a certain population in an area. Some
hunters are managers as much as marksmen.
And there is a large difference between the local well fed deer in a
neighborhood and one out in the wild that gets hunted by man and beast
alike. We have a couple of mountain lions in the area, but they are
severely out numbered by the deer. You have to go at least 10 miles from
here before you could hunt them. Every once in a while, one gets hit by a
car, but they are pretty good at getting out of the way. Lots of
experience, and speed limits.
