Matte,
Just took your advice and switched to alt.sailing. 29 posting; 14 off
topic, 9 about GRP and the others are; well to say the least,
uninteresting. No one is going to learn anything about sailing over
there.
Will they learn anything on ASA? Probably not but any good question
asked will get answered here. Answered by a Sailor, We're never, ever
tried to be a information sailing group.
What we've tried to be is a group of Sailors Discussing things of common
interest to sailors. 1500 postings! Admitted a lot of banter off topic
but most of some interest to the posters.
Sailor's discussions in a Yacht Club Bar would mimic this group rather
well. We aren't against sailing topics but DAMN if we'll be forced to
only them.
I, myself, am not to happy with the Chest Thumping but, by christ;---
I've learned a hell of a lot about the Bennys, Cameras, Inlets and Tides
around the World as well as Sail trim, sail construction, hull
construction, weather, wind world wide, I've learned bout people on ASA.
I've even sailed with some on my boat and "Broken Bread" with other, so
to speak.
ASA isn't perfect BUT;; TO ME: IT'S THE BEST DAMN DISCUSSION GROUP FOR
SAILORS ON THE 'NET.
So, keep your 29 post List. It will be faster, for sure than a 1500 post
List. I'll stay with the ASA even after I've Beached Myself. Also, with
any luck you'll will read of my Obit, in the ASA;--- when its time!!!
SO THERE!!!! I've run off at the mouth and said my piece. UP YOURS, M.
Colie! If ASA bothers you, we sure as hell don't force you join us but
as you can see we don't RESTRICT YOU either.
