Well, of course I am, but then, I'm assuming the son-in-law cares about
his wife. I'm also assuming that before I take my wife on a cruise to
Hawaii, I'd have to prove my competence to *her*, not her freakin' father.

In all fairness, someone (usually Chuck) manages to post boating disaster
articles here at least what....once every two weeks? Some of them involve
downright stupidity or inebriation, but not always. Some involve "I wish I'd
know about that risk" types of stuff. I see nothing wrong with a parent
thinking in terms of worst case scenarios. Hell...my dad's 84 and I'm 52. He
still goes ape**** if I tell him I'm not feeling well. Whattya gonna do?
