Nope. that's the flywheel. See all those square indents around
the outside, middle? that's to hand crank the engine. Put a big
bar in those holes.

the end of the housing frame for the generator/alternator. If
it was a
flywheel, why is the outer circumference unpainted? It looks
like some type
of variable reluctance mechanism.

Thanks Scott. I haven't seen any like that, looks like the
slide valve is
built into the bearing housing. What's all that stuff in the
middle of the
flywheel do?
