The Merritt parkway was closed in Westport when a huge

I've never seen all four lanes blocked! Fortunately, they
cleared my side first. It happened close to an overpass so it
was impossible for cars to drive around it. I have to wonder
was it was like for the people who saw it fall.

That's a pretty incomplete history. No mention of the then
revolutionary "Clover Leaf intersections", or the overpass bridges
which were all designed by artists with no two the same. Those are
pretty major features to overlook.

Indeed you are an expert on Hwys Commodore. I'm glad you know
something.

Then there were the original signs which were made of wood and had
ceramic letters.

This is getting exciting! Why did I not think of that? wink wink

The letters had glass beads glued on them so they
would reflect in headlights at night. Rexcently, they have started to
use metal replica's of those old siogns, but they are pretty poor
representations for the old ones.

Yes they are, I been stealing the old ones for years and putting them
on e-bay.

The original entrance and exit ramps were finally replaced about 20
years ago. The originals were designed for cars that were only going
20 miles an hour.

It is amazing you know so much about the area Commodore, and nothing
about sailing.
