I bought a 1970 Century Resorter / Ford 427 last year under the same
pretense... it's only $5000, cheap! Since I bought the boat it hasn't
touched the water once, and I've probably invested another $3000 - $4000
into restoring it. Would I do it again? I'll let you know once I actually
get it in the water to see if it works

Just kidding - if your budget allows you to splurge on a boat and 4 x what
you think you'll invest into fixing it up, go for it! One word of caution -
if you're married, make sure you say goodbye to you wife prior to picking up
your fix-em-upper. You won't be seeing her for awhile...
