Most newer sportfish don't even have a front cabin window let alone a
lower inside helm. The visibility is so poor compared to the
flybridge that you wouldn't want to drive there anyway.

to attempt the inlet?

Sounds like a good way to become a statistic.
We lose 20 footers every year down here and the inlets in south FL are
not all that dangerous for the most part. Mostly they capsize off
shore, particularly on the east coast.
The south shore of Long Island gets a fair number of inlet capsizings.
It's my impression, not backed by data, that more get in trouble
returning than going out. I wonder if there are any numbers on that?
