Like Ypsilanti, Onancock, Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Seminole?
or were you
referring to Susquehanna, Gogebic, or Huron?
Or Indianapolis, Denver, Albuquerque, Poukeepsie, Bean Blossom,
Fort Wayne,
or Seattle?
Blue Ball, Intercourse, Virginville, Bird in Hand, Paradise,
Wagontown, Sinking Spring, Stony Creek ,all in my area of PA.
You are all too stupid to realise that the Virginia in Ireland was named
*AFTER* the Virginia in the USA.
I was confident that none of you knew anything at all about history, ...
and
I was absolutely correct!

Don't be so obtuse and sanctimonious, Donal.
Really!!!!
Can't you see that my post about Virginia *proved* that Americans are the
most sanctimonious race on Earth?
Wjhy should we
reiyterate the obvious? I've been to Manteo and the Roanoke
colony's landing place and live in the state of VA. Virginia Dare
was the child of British parents so therfore was named after
something British, not American.
Virginia was named by Sir Walter Raleigh in honour of Queen Elizabeth the
First.
On his way back from America, he passed through Ireland ... and the village
of Baile Atha Lir. He renamed Baile Atha Lir "Virginia".
I come from the only town in Europe that is named after a place in America.
Irony is a foreign word in America .....
Regards
Donal
