If you want to buy new, the Bayliner's about the only boat you'll find for
$10k. It is an entry level boat and the 4 cylinder engine's adequate, but no
powerhouse.
I've got a 19' bowrider with that engine and we go out fully loaded with
adults and children: it just takes a litttle longer to get my 200 pound body
out of the water and up on the skis. It's also easy on gas.

45 mph lightly loaded, not with 3 aboard and trying to pull 2 out of the
water. Low end torque to spin a big enough prop to pull a couple of
skiers
out of the water requires cubic inches.
