Default Papa Noel

Creoles and Cajuns always lit bonfires on the levee during the holidays
to light the way for Papa Noel. It is one of the nicest things about
working on the Mississippi deta in winter.

Some of the rows of bonfires would go for miles and miles. A sight to
see.... combined with the cajan music drifting across the river in and
out of fog banks...

Most times working offshore Christmas is a bummer, But I will always
remember Christmas on the Mississippi as a unique almost magical
Christmas.

This is a tourist photo but it gives you an ideal what the bonfires
look like
