Hydrofoils like anything else, have their pluses and minuses. On a bigger
boat like yours, a small foil won't do much good. You need a large (26"-35"
pre side) non-flexing unit installed with 20 + - degrees of dihedral. The
problem is, hydrofoils don't work well at low speeds. They need 12+ mph of
flow to begin generating a significant lift. At 25+ mph, the foil will
really provide a lot of lift at the stern (forcing the bow down), usually
requiring the trim to be kicked up at a very high angle. This causes a
certain amount of prop slip and loss of efficiency.

You are generally better off with a set of hydraulic trim tabs. I use
Bennett 191421 tabs (12"X12") on my Formula 26 PC. They give me a good hole
shot and allow me to level the boat at planing speed when the passengers
move around.

Are the after market Hydrofoil wings that are attached to Outboards
and I/Os any good? If they work as advertised, why don't the
manufacturers install them? Are they worth the money and will they
