not a bad boat.
Make a nice slow trawler for the weekender on a budget. I know someone
who's been cruising in a bigger boat than 34 he got this way. The
sailing rig was trashed and eliminated. The keel was cut back to self-
right the boat but not so deep in a yard. A second hand Perkins 4-108
with transmission to replace the one eaten by the sea and he refurb'd the
cabin with new cushions and a lot of scrubbing. Luckily, the fresh water
tankage was full when she sank and didn't leak while underwater.
They've been having a ball in their nearly-free trawler-that-looks-
almost-like-a-sailboat-without-masts. Plenty of deck space for a party,
too, once you get all that sailing crap off it....(c;
Man, talk about fuel mileage!...(c;
With lots less keel weight, he can haul a LOT of big batteries, genset
and "stuff" his wife just loves, without putting the waterline under,
too!
