Default what year is my 25 hp evinrude outboard

R = rope start (vs E= electric)
L= long shaft (20 inch) vs 15 inch shaft which would be indicated by
"nothing"

Example

short E25RCN

long E25RLCN

long electric start E25ELCN

From the manual it say e25rlcn. Any idea of a year of range of years
it could be. Where is the serial number located on the motor. Thanks
Mike

1982;

Model years are indicated by last two letters of model number. Digits are
matched with the letters of the word "introduces" with I=1, N=2 ... E= 9,
S=0 CN = 82

The first letter E means Evinrude (J=Johnson). I don't know what the RL
means - probably either some features (e.g electric vs. pull start?) of

the
engine and/or where it was built.

In my experience, the model number (the number you posted) is more

important
than the serial number for getting parts, specs, etc. I don't know where

to
find either on your 25. Sometimes, there's a tag on the exterior (e.g.

leg
or obvious inside the cowling. Sometimes you have to scrutinize the
powerhead.
