Now, how about each of you ASA curmudgeons telling me who you are and
why what you say is worth listening to.

I live in NYC, but sail out of Eastern CT. A CS27--Canadian built boat and,
I understand, the smallest boat Camper & Nicholson ever designed.

CS (Canadian Sailcraft) boats are tough. We (the Navy) have a CS 36 we
use for crew training when new crew get sent to Oriole (the Navy's 102'
Owens ketch). CS boats are popular around here because of their
legendary toughness. Many have been sailed far and wide.

Nice to meet you Dave.

Not only tough. The CS I'm most familiar with is the 30, and it's pretty fast,
as well as tough. The only thing I don't like is the Volvo engines they used,
which are hard to start in cold weather, and parts are absurdly priced.

My Dad had a Volvo in his boat and it always ran. I have never had any
experience with them. My boat has a Yanmar and Oriole has a Detroit
671, a 14.5KW Yanmar gennie and a 3.5 KW Westerbeke. All four run and
start fine. My favourite sound is the Detroit. I want that noise for a
cell phone ring!
