Thunder,
Our healthcare costs are out of control, I just am not convinced that a
National Health Care program will lower out costs, but at this point I
believe it will probably become a reality. Voters will become more

inclined
to want national healthcare as current employees and retired employees

lose
employer healthcare coverage, and turn towards National Healthcare

Coverage.

I disagree, I doubt people will accecpt guvmint control and rationing of
health care in this country, especially after seeing the collapse of the
canadian and eu systems. What will happen however, (and is a good thing)
is the movement toward high deductibles combined with health savings
accounts. Since individuals will own the money in those accounts, they will
ration themselves WRT health care services. Restoring market economics to
healthcare will go a long way to solving the "health care crisis" Tort
reform will be the other major step.

Perhaps not national health care, but clearly our health costs put us at

a
disadvantage. Our health care costs are 15% GDP. IIRC, no other nation
has costs over 10% GDP. There is no denying, those costs affect our
competitiveness internationally.
