You're headed in the right direction. Harry must have left out the last
step. Once all the 'filtered' messages have been highlighted in red,
numbered, and you have read them all, then:

Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Display

Go to Settings for your video card

Choose a color combination which will *not* display the color red.

Problem solved.
