since i am a great lover of good fiction, i am wondering of
there are
any recommendations for stories of the river. in particular, are
there stories, such as 'Deliverance' that have paddling as a certral
part of
it? i have also read 'a river runs through it' and though i really
liked this, it took place near the river but not on it. any
suggestions?

Does it have to be fiction?

A death on the Barrens Grinnell
Kabloona in the Yellow Kayak Jason
Dangerous River Patterson
A Kayak Full of Ghosts retold-Millman
Kabloona Poncins
The Lsat Canoe Craig

One of the reasons that I became interested in kayaking was from reading a
book (non-fiction): Running the Amazon by Joe Kane

Both of Chris Duffs books are also very good.
"On Celtic Tides" describes his experience circumnavigating Ireland
"Southern Exposure" describes is trip around the Southern Island of New
Zealand.
