Default Winterizing

No new impeller? Cheap insurance, no?

On Monday, I drove out to the nearest Evinrude dealer to get their
grease tubes so I could lube the 5 or 6 nipples on my Yachtwin 6hp.
I mentioned to the counter guy about what I had done to winterize and
asked him about the impeller.
He told me they don't normally drop the bottom end to check it when
doing winterizing. they simply monitor the pee hole discharge and the
operating temperature. If that seems fine, they surmise that the
impeller is ok.
Since mine is mounted on a sailboat, I'm guessing I should get at least
3 years use out of it.
