Typical, Christian zealots need to rule by fear, because there are no
facts!
Pat Robertson warns Pa. town of disaster
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Religious broadcaster Pat Robertson warned
residents of a rural Pennsylvania town Thursday that disaster may
strike there because they "voted God out of your city" by ousting
school board members who favored teaching intelligent design.
Robertson takes the term "loose cannon" to totally new levels. :-)
But, Robertson is right the issue. Either you acknowlege God or you don't.
If you don't acknowledge God then why are you asking Him for things?
Illogical and too simple. If god's as perfect as his followers make him out
to be, simplicity cannot be the answer.
1) There are scientists who believe in god, but believe he set all this in
motion and then wiped his hands and said "now it runs itself". This is as
valid as any other view.
2) If you truly believe that a deity runs everything, you MUST question why
he allows such things as drug resistant germs, which are pure evil. If
you're as immature as a toddler, you can say Satan's responsible for the bad
things, just as a child might blame an imaginary friend for spilling juice
on the sofa.
3) It appears the Northern pike hasn't changed in millions of years, while
other fish have. Is a deity fiddling with some fish but not others? Why? Or,
is the pike proof that when an organism functions with beautiful efficiency,
it doesn't need to change much, if at all? If the deity is as perfect as his
followers make him out to be, why weren't all organisms perfectly designed
to begin with? Why do they evolve?
4) Why do bad things happen to good people? (There's a book about that).
These questions have kept humanity busy forever. But, they must be hidden
much of the time or there would never be new recruits. If you don't get a
kid into religion by a certain age, she's (thankfully) saved from it all,
unless she arrives at it herself later in life. To get her into religion,
you have to keep it simple: There's a god. You have to be exquisitely lazy
or very stupid to leave it at that.
