IMHO a far more likely scenario is that Mr Gun Thread Poster leans out
the window waving his big fancy gun, threatening to shoot, until one of
the mob yanks it away from him. Or, if any shooting occurs, gets
arrested and put in a nice safe jail (and the mob burns his house while
he's away)... or he gets shot by an armed rioter.

Substitute "police or NG" for "one of the mob" and that's exactly what
happened in N.O.
