Looking for some information for a friend who is looking to by a
7 year old Beneteau 28.5. According to the survey, this is a boat
in "new" condition. It has been well maintained and not abused. The
rub is that the moisture content in the hull is "off-scale" and the

rudder
has a few small blisters. Does anyone know of problems with blisters in
this vintage Beneteau? The moisture could be due to improper barrier
coat application in that it was put on too early and trapped moisture.

Beneteau had big time problems with a very bad batch of resin and sued the
manufacturer. They won there case and found out that the award was too
low. This is a big time problem. Beneteau paid to have the gel coat
removed from the hulls of hundreds of boats and have a new vinylester
surface installed.

If there is no way to have this done for free, have your friend buy
another boat.
