Among Republicans, the President's Approval Rating is now at 78%. That's
an improvement from the low of 71% reached on the day Harriet Miers
withdrew from consideration as a Supreme Court nominee. Today's figures

withdrawal of Miers' nomination.
Bush Job Approval
Strongly Approve 22%
Somewhat Approve 22%
Somewhat Disapprove 15%
Strongly Disapprove 41%
Bush is up 7 points among Republicans, and 4 points overall since the
Miers withdrawal. And this is just 2 days after one of his
Administration officials was indicted for perjury and obstruction of
justice.
Overall, 56% of Americans Disapprove of the President's performance
including 41% strongly disapprove.
When Bush was at or near 50%, he had the approval of nearly 85% of
Republicans. When Bush fell to 40% approval, he only had the approval of
71% of Republicans.
All he has to do is focus on his base and ignore the left, and he'll soon be
back to his pre-election numbers.
Any drop that we've seen was because he was ignoring his base. But as I
predicted, Bush's base would go running back to him the moment he regrew a
spine and quit pandering to the left.
