The address is the exact same address Skipper used years
ago. If anyone responded, it would have to be the same Skipper who has been
posting with that email address years ago. Even if Skipper died or stopped
using cox.net, Cox.net would not allow anyone else to use that email
address. No one who wanted to "spoof" Skipper would have actually received
the mail sent to .

The fact that this went over so many heads amazes me.

The only fact that wasn't anonymised was Skipper's real identity,
which I had saved from another era in rec.boats when people weren't so
worried about responding to hooded posters neurotically compelled to
grind personal axes. Posters actually sought boating help from other
boaters and weren't afraid to post their address in seeking same.

Thanks to some here with one foot across the lunatic fringe, there is
ample anger and distrust with too little substantial boating
information.
