Default Scanmar superior to 35s5

The center cockpit on a 35 footer has never worked. Only the small
Moody comes close to pulling it off.

Wrong. There are a number of center cockpit mid-30-foot range boats.

.... It's also slower than the 35s5

Wrong. They're pretty evenly matched.

Good boat, but so few built...only about 40-50 in the USA.

So in other words, it was not a 'well-advertised product'?

Why must you compare it to your boat? Can't you admire it for what it is?
Not every boat has or needs a swim platform or Whitlock steering.

A properly set up cable system will feel just as good as a Whitlock rack and
pinion system. B-52's fly on cable systems, 600,000 lbs at 600 mph, so do
F-14's at over 2,000 mph pulling 6 g's..

Are you sure the F-14 has cable controls? Somehow I didn't picture that
when hearing the phrase "fly-by-wire."

The center cockpit is a personal preference, as is the swim platform. If you
haven't noticed, swim platforms aren't very popular in the Nordic countries.
Nor are scoop sterns unless you like ice water.

I dunno, a fair number of Scandinavian boats seen to have the same
scoops & platforms. Partly due to mass-production, but partly too I bet
many of them dream of sailing off the the Med in their boats.

Does your boat have a good heater? What kind and how many BTU? How much ice
can it sail through? Is it easy to anchor from the stern? How do the
characteristics of your boat change with heavy, following seas when 8 tons
of seawater flow in and out of your cockpit? That's almost like sailing with
a half flooded bilge.

Ahem. Youor premise is faulty. Flooded bilge or not, Boobsy only sails
very short distances and in calm waters.

The premise of all of your posts is that your personal choices are somehow
better than others. For you, maybe, but for others it's their personal
choice that matters, not yours.

But you must admit, that by any independent and objective standard, the
Scanmar is a classic to be admired by all.

Damn, what a nice boat!

Yes it is.

Scanmar is one of the classy Scandinavian boats that I've admired for
years. A friend bought a Scanmar 33 a few years back, he's loved it.
