There's plenty wrong with America, since you asked. I'm tempted to say
that the only difference from Canada is that they have a few things
right. That would be unfair, of course -- I am often pleased to discover
things we still get right.

But one of them would not be disaster preparation.


Donno what glue this guy's been sniffing, but he's Just Plain Wrong. In
the first place, what little military we DO have is trained almost
exclusively for rescue, life-saving, that kinda thing rather than killing.

But we DON'T depend on the Military. We have several crack units of
search-and-rescue, disaster relief, etc. In Vancouver we have the Urban
Rescue Team, and DART from Ottawa. The only problem with DART is that the
Gov't has been too busy arguing politics to get them at Site in a timely
matter. I suspect that wouldn't happen if the disaster was local.
