okay is it just me, or is this not the most depressing time of the
year? I'm 50, and I've been on sailboats since I was 14 but I just
can't get over how depressed I get each and every friggin year when I
have to put the old girl to bed for the winter. I promise to grow up
one of these days, just not one of these days soon ;-P
It's a latitude thing. At least we northerners get a chage of scenery twice
a year.
I'm sorta pining for the southern latitudes this time of year, but then
again, winter is the only time of the year that I can get any work done
on the house -- and after 5 years in Florida, I REALLY missed the
seasons and *never* got used to their version of summer.
If the weather's not too bad, we'll probably be sailing the Chesapeake
into November. Fall colors and the geese flocking up are magical on the
Bay. With good winds and no powerboats, it almost balances the lack of
sunning temps.
