Jim. I am not knocking the Great Lakes. I lived in Birmingham, Michigan,
for four years, and had a relative in the immediate area who took us
out on Lake Huron and we even trailered over the Lake Michigan a couple
of times.
My comments were directed at Hertvik and his boating practices, not the
Great Lakes.

I know that you weren't knocking the Great Lakes Harry, It's just that
perhaps Mr. Hertvik's near shore boating is the best way to see the beauty
of the Lakes. Also, at times of bad weather, I have been kept in the
Marina for days. Some weekends it is too rough on the lake to go out.
This is especially true on shallow Lake Erie. Short, steep chop would
not
be comfortable boating conditions in his small boat. I have seen summer
storms on Lake Erie where waves of 2 to 3 meters can develop in a few
hours.
Not good!

Jim

Thanks Jim. A voice of reason is always appreciated.

I have been off shore many times on Lake Erie, Lake St. Claire and Lake
Michigan over my past 25+ years of boating. We would regularly travel to
Canada and Michigan with our 27 and 32 footers. My present boat, purchased
just 2 1/2 months ago, limits us to near shore boating due to its size.

I wonder why Krause has a problem on how one spends their boating time?
Being on the water is what it is all about, regardless if it near shore or
off shore.

Krause, as usual, does not have al clue.
