There are plenty of moderated boating forums. So why do you stay here if
you
don't like it?
The point is...we DO like the boating information here. He just doesnt feel
(and justly so) that he should have to wade through other garbage that
doesnt belong here, to get to it.
One can filter out 98% of the OT stuff by name. That's what I do and
most people should do if they want to by-pass the constant barrage of
OT political posts. Occasionally one slips through and in one case,
it was kind of interesting so I posted my two cents and let it alone.
My own personal opinion is that this belongs in other groups where
they can smash and bash each other to their hearts content.
By the way, this isn't the only group where this has happened. I have
a theory about it, but it's strictly amateur, based on my own opinions
about life, the universe and everything and thus has no validity to
anyone other than me.
It's a free country, the newsgroup is public and they have the right
and ability to do it here. The only defense in that situation is to
filter. Screaming and hollering about it only adds to the
signal-to-noise ratio and is counter-productive to the original intent
of the group.
