Darn. I was hoping we were going to see a lot of Cayuga Lake, where my
grandfather and I used to go fishing a lot. It's a beautiful cruise
webpage, though.

We were in one of Grandpa's favorite Cayuga Lake fishing places in his
aluminum boat with the 7.5hp blue Evinrude twin anchored off and this large
houseboat approached us from the direction of Ithaca. They slowed and
stopped to watch us haulin' 'em in about 50 yards away. A guy came to the
rail and asked us how the fishing was. I recognized him, IMMEDIATELY, from
one of my favorite TV shows, but my grandfather was unimpressed. "Oh, it's
fair today", he lied, the stringers over the stern about 2 fish from our
limit. The guy in the houseboat invited us aboard for a drink and before
my grandfather could refuse, I thanked him and reeled in my pole. We tied
off the houseboat's stern and had hot chocolate and a snack with him. I
was nearly speechless as the grownups talked for a while, my grandfather
warming to this nice man. Our drinks consumed, we bid him farewell and
went back to finish filling that stringer. "Grandpa! Do you know who that
man was?", I asked him excitedly. "No, just some nice guy with money.",
was his reply. "That guy was Rod Serling!" Still looking at me like I was
crazy, I had to explain to him who Rod Serling was. He rarely watched sci-
fi TV shows....(c; This would have been about 1960 to 62....

I'll never forget that day on Cayuga Lake.....
