Default Research on fatigue of fiberglass sailboat hulls (J/24's) - United States Naval Academy

There are a bunch of links here and it is quite an excellent page
that, in my opinion deserves it own posting. Roger Long are you the
naval arch. who bought your boat from a fresh water lake, Erie or
Michigan? I hope you enjoy this page......

This page briefly describes a project that looked at fatigue effects
on marine fiberglass. The project's goal was to correlate (and improve
where possible) standard test methods, theory and computer-aided
analysis tools to give designers more confidence when developing
specifications for marine composite components.

"Normal people ... believe that if it isn't broken, don't fix it.
Engineers believe that if it isn't broken, it doesn't have enough
features yet."

" To the optimist, the glass is half full. To the pessimist, the glass
is half-empty. To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs
to be."
