Default pros and cons of E-85 fuels ?

i was wondering in anybody has used E-85 fuel in their 4-cycle boat
engines.

i know there are very few vehicles that can run on the alcohol based
fuel. I have a friend that has a carburated '76 chevy 3/4 ton truck he
pumps oilwells with, and he says it runs on it fine. but has a bit of
a problem idling without richening up the idle setting.

OTH, I've been to the marina guy who told me, and showed me what it
will do to a 40 horse Mercury. Not a pretty site. The boat owner
thought he'd save a couple sheckels, and filled his 2-stroke with the
E-85. Bad deal. the two stroke oil won't mix witht he alcohol, and
just floats on top like cooking oil. needless to say,it was a burn-out.

Anyhow, I look at it like the E-85 is priced at about $.50 per gal less
than un-leaded, and I dont really see any reason it shouldn't work in a
carburated 4-cycle boat engine.
BTW, Mine is an 83- 140 mercruiser (chevy)
anybody try it, yet?
