In article . net,
says...

Wasn't Harry the one sounding off about how terrific the people in
Denmark,
Norway, and the Netherlands have it?
Ever visited any of the above countries? They've invested in reliable
transit systems that allow most citizens to do without cars.

Cars are used for groceries and vacations.

In those countries, gas prices are almost triple the price per gallon
that
we pay here. I guess that's how they pay for their "free" social
services
over there.
No, they have progressive tax structures, just like here.

How'd you like to fill up your SUV and the bill comes $150?
That's why we have SUVs and they have reasonably-sized autos.

How'd you like it if it cost you $1 for every 3 miles you drove? And
you
weren't in a boat?
You're projecting the American lifestyle on folks who don't live the
same way.

Do they own any recreational boats?
Yup.

Fuel on the water is usually 10% more than on land. That puts fuel on
the water at $7/gallon in those countries. Your average 22-25 foot
runabout gets 2.5-3 mpg. Imagine paying $2.50 per mile. My average
fishing trip would cost upwards of $200 in fuel costs alone.

You're assuming their tastes are the same as yours. They aren't.

What a crappy country then.
