Supposedly,
arborists nearby are experimenting with some disease-free varieties in
an effort to bring the chestnut tree back. That would be better than
cloning dead dog, I think.

I read somewhere that these were available already but don't remember
where. I used to own a residential lot with a fallen chestnut tree
toward the back. Spent many hours sitting on that tree looking out
over the valley below.
