pain in the whazoo I'll tell you what.


The treecutters are supposed to be here between 8 and 9 am. Tuplip
poplars are pretty trees, but they are fragile. Nice-looking "buds" and
leaves.

My heart kind of aches for the real chestnut trees that grew near us in
Connecticut when I was a kid, but I guess the blight has killed them all
off by now. The trees were gorgeous, and peeling the fallen chestnuts
out of their cocoons and roasting them was great fun. Supposedly,
arborists nearby are experimenting with some disease-free varieties in
an effort to bring the chestnut tree back. That would be better than
cloning dead dog, I think.
