I have a swift 18 1983 sailing boat, can anyone recommend a good insurance
company please.
Well, it actually depends on where in the world you live; since you
haven't mentioned that, an answer for where I am is as good as any.
Around here an 18' sailboat with a motor under (as I recall) 10hp would
be covered by your homeowner's or tenant's policy for liability and
theft. Possibly it would need to be mentioned specifically in a
"rider", which may or may not cost a little extra. (Perhaps it's a
marina or club that's requiring proof of insurance, in which case you
may need an explicit rider even if the insurance company doesn't
require it.)
If you don't have a homeowner's or tenant's policy then I guess you're
not an insurance kinda guy (like Burt Reynold's character in
Deliverance, perhaps?) but if you're asking about it then I have to
assume that's not the case.
So call your usual insurance agent or broker and see what they say.
Expect them to ask about the motor hp and not care so much about the
length or the fact that it's a sailboat.
