Well, I took it to the boat doctor and he said I probably hit
something. I told him that it just seemed to "let loose" and he agreed.
but looking at scuff marks on the stainless prop, he said the the lower
end missed everything but the prop hit. y'know, the un stoppable object
hits the un movable object and "CLACK" busted gears. He asked me if I
wanted an "estimate" for insurance purposes, and I said it really
didn't matter, because I only have liability on it.....

Oh well, nothing that money can't cure.....
