Don't disregard the T-top as a storage resource. There are any number of
ways to mount a gps or any other electronics like VHF, etc. from the
overhead. Most CCs I've seen have a pocket on the side of the CC for
extinguisher mounting. If yours has no pocket you can use one of the T-top
vertical stantions to rig a mount for the extinguisher. There are vendors
who sell storage bags that attach to the under side of the T-top which could
serve as storage for a couple of extra PFDs or binoculars, etc.
Some things store well inside the console. Charts, documentation and PFDs
come to mind. My boat has storage under the seat. I put the abandon vessel
bag there with all the safety gear including flares, spare PFDs, first aid
kit, some tools, handheld VHF and handheld GPS. I also store the cedar
bucket (orange juice bottle), paper towels, drink cozies, spare hand cloths,
tow rope, mooring lines and some other small items there.
The anchor and rode live in it's compartment forward. The cooler seat
forward of the CC is where the catch goes. The landing net lives in a rod
holder. I have a very robust rub rail so don't even carry fenders.
Wish I had a T-top but would then lose scarce walk around space near the CC.
Use your imagination and think vertical for storage. Limit your guest's
baggage. On my small 16 footer when we fish with three aboard (tight) the
limit is two rods per person, when we fish two aboard the limit is three.
The only other baggage allowed is one lunch cooler, one tackle box, and one
lure box per person. The host provides the boat and fuel and the guests
provide the ice, bait, and launch fee.
If there is another boat in my life it will be an 18 or larger.

I have a small boat: 18' CC. It's really just big enough for 2-3
people to walk around. But when you start adding gear, it starts
getting in the way. I plan to add rod holders to my T-top to get them
out of the way. I'll probably put my outriggers up top as well. Any
good suggestions for efficient storage?
What about a GPS mount, fire extinguisher and trash recepticle?
I have a handlheld GPS but it would be nice to have a mount.
