I have a Bayliner Capri 1950 built in 1989 with a Ford 351 Wndsor 5.8
ltr V8 250hp in it

My questions are as follows

1. Where in the UK can i get spares for it? ie Oil, Air, Fuel filters,
Spark plugs
2. Where in Scotland can i get it serviced?
3. If i was to change the engine what would be a good alternative to
fit in it?
( Volvo,Mercruiser etc ) I don't need anything super fast as i use it
mainly for sea fishing with the wife and kids and fuel is expensive in
the uk

Thanks

You can stick with the Ford. I'm not sure where you found that this is
a 351, but even if you disregard the "5.0" emblem on the spark arrestor,
it looks like this is in fact a 5.0 Liter/302 CID Ford V-8 based on the
narrow intake manifold (lower deck height). It would be rated at
210-215 HP with a 4bbl, about 190 hp w/ a 2bbl carb, either one is good
power for this boat.

Now, whether or not it is a Cobra, I can't tell from the pics... Cobra
drives usually had gray painted engines in '89. Can you post a picture
of the outdrive? The Volvo SX drive would be the closest match to the
Cobra, if that's what you have.

I just looked at

again and it looks like someone did a lot of blue and silver painting,
with overspray, but the transom assembly is the original gray paint, so
this is a Cobra.

For oil filters, use Motorcraft FL-1A or the equivalent Wix or Purolator.

There is not usually an air filter on ignition protected spark
arrestors, so that is not an issue, just keep it clean & unobstructed.

The fuel filter for the Holley carb is in-line somewhere - there may be
two, including a seperator, so use the same elements that are already in
place.
