Need advice on marine paint
I have a fiberglass boat with a faded, yucky green gelcoat stripe that I
want to paint. In the past, I have painted boats with Imron but this is a
large boat and I don't have a trailer for it. It's stored in my covered
boat house and is lifted out of the water so I can easily repaint the stripe
by "rolling and tipping".
I want the painted stripe to have the "wet" look like Imron - with the
"sparkles". Imron doesn't seem to be a good choice because of the hazardous
vapors so I'm wondering what other choices I might have. A local boat store
told me that Interlux had a product called Brightside that was durable and
easy to apply. However, they told me that it would not give me the
Imron-like finish. Can something be mixed with Brightside to produce the
"sparkles".
Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how I can achieve the desired
"wet look" ?
TIA
Chuck
