Can someone explain to a semi computer literate old mariner with a

I thought a plonk was when one of your charter passengers hit you

sinker while casting.

A kill file is like a spam killer. The program used to read posts,
Forte Agent in my case, has the option of using a killfile. I could
tell the program to disregard any email where the author is "Capt.
Frank Hopkins" for example. Then while articles were being downloaded
the program would check each article's author to find a match. If a
match is found, the article (post) would not be displayed. Kill files
can use authors' names, subject titles, size of post, or many other
criteria.
