Default Stringer outdrives

If they are OMC stringer drives, than the engine would be mounted to the
floor and those stringers are probably rotten. The lower unit does not
transfer the hp to the transom, the torque goes through the engine and its
mounted to those stringers on the bottom of the hull and thats what pushes
that boat. Those OMC drives are probably also electric shifts and that
probably also will be your problems or that spider transmission joint.
You will learn all about it pretty quick.

I got to looking at those old boats I picked up the
other day - the outdrives look as if they are still
serviceable, but I've been told parts are hard to
find for them. I've looked around the web and
while there seem to be parts available, I'm not
sure I'm looking at the right outdrives.

So, if these two boats are in the '72/'74 range
for age, and they have OMC outdrives, the I
can assume they are Stringer outdrives?

Thanks for any help.
