fishing boat

New to the group. I am basically a fresh water fisherman who enjoys
the salt a few times a year. I sold a bass boat last fall. Now I have
the opportunity to buy a (used)16' 4" True World center console. My
wish is to keep it in a slip here in Lake Hopatcong and occaisonally
trail it to the Jersey shore to the bay. My question is: do you think
this is advisable? Is it practical to think I can have the best of
both worlds, my bass and musky fishing up north in fresh water and
also down in the bay. I realize this is not a large boat. Just
wondering if anyone has some experience with this type of boat.
Thanks. Jack Tr.
Sure its advisable, provided you're smart about where you go and watch
the weather. Taking it out Barnegat Inlet in 3-5's - Not advisable.
Fishing the back bays when the wind's not kickin, or better yet on a
weekday or evening when the boat trafic isn't insane and you should be
fine. There are plenty of 16-17 footers that do fine in Barnegat Bay.
Where do you want to go and what do you want to fish for?
