THE CURSE OF THE VIRTUAL VAMPIRES

Behold a once noble and gallant sailing* Captain, down on his luck, with
time and money running out, having spent too long fighting holy wars on
the losing side each time. He still has a small circle of supporters and
tolerators in the little squabbling village which has been his only home
and refuge for many years, and which indeed he once governed. But he
has only one old, small sailboat remaining, an outcome which is a cause
for angst and rage at those (most) villagers who are better endowed. But
much of the time, he succeeds in hiding his pain.

(remainder of enthralling story snipped for brevity)

Calling them vampires gives them too much credit. They're just
cyber-destructive morons. They're not even capable of causing annoyance
in reality...

Does nothing to change my opinion the the world would be a better place
if some folks had their knees broken for them. It's easy, it's quick,
and it gives a painful reminder to keep better manners for a long long time.

Sorry I couldn't find a way to work in any sailing content. But there's
a Johnny Cash song that expresses pretty much the same sentiment, does
that count?
