hi, can somebody please clear this up for me?

Are lapstraked boats caulked (ie with cotton) the same way as straight
up plank on wood boats? or are the planks usually just glued and
screwed watertight together?
what is the method of making these seams watertight on a lapstraked
boat?

Traditional lapstrake, made of solid timber, is riveted. No caulking is
done. A more modern approach is to use sikaflex or a similar flexing stuff.
"Modern" lapstrake from plywood is best glued with epoxy.
