Is there a rule of thumb or formula as to what length they should be.
Will use 1/2 line.
The length of the boat + 10' or if you prefer a single line then simply
go twice the length of the boat plus 10 or so feet. Reason for slightly
longer lines than some recommend is that the sheets sometimes must be
used for other things in emergencies and such. The rule of thumb given
allows for about as long as is useable without becoming troublesome. You
will also be chasing 'lost' lines lessoften and re-reeving them.
