Any new boat needs to be less than 5 foot draft to be most useful for
where you
sail. Even 6 feet will dramatically limit your options in the LIS.
I'm aware of that, which is why the deal for th 34+ and 37 non CB boats
were not a great idea, great deal or not. The Tartan 37, C&C 37 CB are
certainly fast, fun boats with the option of pulling up the board. The
C&C LF 38 is a great all around cruiser that draws 5 feet. There are
surprisingly few boats that meet the criteria.
1) Reasonable draft in a 35-38 footer
2) Good performance
3) cabin with births for someone of my height (6'3)
4) Good room for kids below and on deck
5) Nice lines
6) Better than average build quality
7) Price of 80K max
8) Nothing older than early eighties that doesn't need a restoration.
9) Well known builder so we can sell easily one day.
NOT on my list: Catalina, Hunter, Beneteau, O'Day, Cal.
Boats we like: C&C, Tartan, Sabre, Bristol
We're open to suggestions.
