Rhys,
I ordered my parts online, and with a phone call to Garhauer, was able to
put together a very nice adjustable traveler system. Someone had previously
removed the traveler track and put on a diamond shaped cast pad eye, that;
when I took off the mainsheet blocks, I found was cracked!
All I could figure was the guy didn't want to spend the money replacing the
track and associated gear, so he half-assed it instead.
Hate to be on the receiving end if that padeye had let go....

Would you paraphrase this as "ideal for cruisers"?
Who, of course, can always use the fancy, lightweight expensive stuff
at the top of the mast or wherever should they wish to race...
Personally, I race as crew, and value strength and most of all
durability. I "cruise" as a skipper in pretty heavy weather and
although I have an old '70s IOR "cruiser-racer", I cruise as if I'm
racing, which means I push the boat sometimes.
So the durability question trumps the weight aloft situation, although
I respect that's an important racing consideration.
It's 90% Lewmar/Harken/Ronstan here in Toronto. Very rarely have I
seen Garhauer/Antal/other products, although I do see Wichard shackles
and Spinlock jammers and so on.
What is anyone's experience with ordering Garhauer stuff online?
