The top cover bearing is about $20 and the double bearing is about $120.
About $150 labor. Add $50 if you want seals.

If it helps,

I just had a drive rebuilt with a bent prop shaft and they used an almost
newly built lower end... all said and done though it was about $1300 CDN
... just an idea but expect approximately $700-$1500 to do so... you
might want to look at a rebuilt one and return yours as a core... There
are lots of options like that out there.

Got a mercruiser alpha gen II outdrive that the bearing going into the
outdrive (not the hub) gets hot, also has faint scraping noise. Anyone
know the average cost of repair? I'm going to remove the outdrive and
carry into the service center.

Also, the cost to weld the typical hole that bleeds air in to the water
intake on Mercruiser outdrives above 35 MPH causing overheat and a new
skeg (previous owner ground it off )

Thanks, I'm just using any prices posted here as a reference.

The foot or the part of the drive you had replaced is not what I need
repaired. If you pull the foot off (lower drive) and then pull the upper
drive off the hub the little piece that allows the drive from the engine
to make the 90 degree angle to the foot (called upper drive) is the piece
that needs repair. And then only the TOP bearing that is closest to the
hub. A special wrench and it comes off. Putting it back in requires a
guage to get the alignment to the spider gear (automotive term). Repair
time to take off 10 min. Replacement time with shimming I can only guess
at 1 hr to 1.5 hrs. Bearing cost??
