Hi all,

I have a boat (obviously) with a 1986 OMC stern drive with a Chevy 350. The
boat has not been used in 6 years and I would like to get it running.

The prop is seized (I think it is stuck to the drive by corrosion of the
alum in the space between the prop and alum drive), so the first thing I
plan to do is pull the prop and clean everything. I also plan to change the
drive oil and if it is clean (which it should be as it was change before
storage) I will go on with getting the engine running. Figuring if the
drive is bad no need to go further.

I plan to replace the drive water pump and do a full tune up (plugs, wires,
rotor, cap, points and condenser, "fan" belt, rubber fuel lines, fuel
filters, carb rebuilt and oil and filter). The exhaust manifolds were
replaced just before it was winterized and left to sit so all this time it
has been sitting with marvel mystery oil in the cylinders and antifreeze in
the block and manifolds. The engine does spin freely and builds oil
pressure but I did not try to start it yet. Can anybody think of anything
else that would degrade in that time frame? And does anybody know of an
online site for parts and tools (like a prop puller)?

Thanks for your help,

mark

If it has a Mercruiser engine (gm) you can try here for parts, but you'll need a
serial number.

Good luck.

You say it was "winterised" i.e. it had fogging oil or similar sprayed
into intake at idle till it stopped?? then the plugs were removed & a
goodly dose of oil (you say marvel whatever) put in??. Assuming it
hasn't suffered freeze damage then it should be OK. make sure you give
it a good spin without the plugs in to avoid an hydraulic lock from the
excess storage oil on startup.

After the first few runs, outings so the valves rings etc have had time
to settle in then do a compression check etc & if all is well then all
is well:-)

As you allude the real risks are in the drive, but fresh oil, new pump
etc & give it a go.

Good luck.

& the Krause lie for the day is an oldie but a goodie:-)

So this lying idiot sees himself as circulating in the upper
circles, honestly this lying idiot thinks this is believable, which is
more proof of his total stupidity:-)

As far as your other complaints, well, almost every president in

my memory, and I *remember* Truman, Eisenhower (who cheated on his
wife), Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan and Bush, lied and
participated in deceit to one degree or another, and on issues far more
important than who was giving them blow jobs.

Good lord. I met *every* president in the damned group except
Bush, and I worked once for his father.
