I bought some 20 oz (666 gm/m2) triaxial and 12 oz (400 gm/m2) biaxial
rolls of fabric from V2
www.v2composites.com
They use a stitching method so that each strand of fiber is lock
stitched to its neighbor. The result is no huge qty. of frayed fibers
when you cut it. Very very nice stuff to work with and wets out
easily. Not stiff or "board like"
Anyway, the biaxial I bought was "factory seconds" and paid $1/lb for
it. This was described as having intermittent flaws and in a phone
conversation I had with the salesman he said I should be able to get
some good sections between the flaws. They also said if I didn't like
it to send it back for a credit.
Well it really wasn't like that - the flaws were missing strands all
through the fabric, sort of like a tartan fabric. You'd get a dozen
good strands and then 2 missing, then 5 good ones and 2 missing, and
that sort of thing.
I wrote them back saying it wasn't as described but shipping it back
would cost more than it was worth. So I got an immediate credit for
the full amount of the purchase on to my credit card. And an offer for
some first quality replacement at a greatly discounted price.
This is the sort of customer treatment that should be rewarded - so buy
their stuff if you need rolls of good stitched fabrics.
